Why is coconut oil considered healthy, I thought it was a saturated fat?
Coconut oil is a saturated fat, and all balanced diets require a limited amount of saturated fat. We suggest using a high-quality oil like Coco Treasure Certified Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil instead of animal-based fats which contain cholesterol. As a plant-based fat, coconut oil is naturally cholesterol-free. Our cold processing methods prevent the generation of trans-fats which are now considered unhealthier than saturated fat. Coconut oil is also high in lauric acid and medium chain triglycerides (MCTs), both of which have been found to fight disease and promote wellness.

How should I store Coco Treasure Certified Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil?
Coconut oil is shelf stable and does not require refrigeration for normal use. In fact, coconut oil has one of the longest shelf lives of any cooking oil on the market. Refrigeration is suggested if an opened jar will not be consumed within 60 days. Be aware that refrigerated coconut oil becomes very solid and difficult to scoop from the jar. Remove the container from the refrigerator, and allow oil to reach room temperature for ease of use. Coconut oil can be frozen for long-term storage but should be transferred to a freezer-safe container first.

What is coconut flour and how should I use it?
Coco Treasure’s Organic Coconut Flour is made from the dried, ground meat of hand-picked, organically grown coconuts. We produce our flour in small batches to maintain the highest quality. Coconut flour is gluten-free, high in fiber and low in digestible carbohydrates. Coconut flour is absorbent and, for best results in baking, requires an equal ratio of flour-to-liquid. Visit our “Recipes and Blog” section for more ideas on using coconut flour.

What is the difference in cold-process, ANH process and refined oil, and which one is best for me?
Oil that is cold processed and Absolutely No Heat (ANH) processed retains its monoglycerides and natural antioxidants such as vitamin C, A and E and other micro-nutrients. These important vitamins not only provide nutrition, they are natural preservative that help keep coconut oil stable for a long period of time. Coco Treasure uses only no-heat methods for processing our precious organic oil.

Refined coconut oil is extracted from dried coconut meat and is put through a high-heat bleaching and deodorizing process to remove the natural aroma and flavor of coconuts. Chemical preservatives are then added to prolong shelf life. Refined coconut oil may be partially hydrogenated and contain trans-fats

Unrefined coconut oil is also referred to as “virgin” oil. It is extracted from fresh coconuts without the use of high heat, bleaching or additives. Unrefined coconut oil retains the pleasant, light flavor and taste of fresh coconuts.

Coco Treasure Certified Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is natural, unrefined, chemical free and ANH processed. If you prefer a pure, all-natural product rich with its delicious flavor and micro-nutrients intact there is no question which type of processing is best.

Where does coconut sugar come from?
Coco Treasure Coconut Sugar is the crystallized sap of the coconut tree. Each day our farmers climb to the tops of the coconut palm trees to carefully harvest the precious golden nectar of the exotic blossoms. It contains no chemicals or added flavors. We hand-craft small batches using traditional methods to ensure our product is superior to mass-produced alternatives. Our unique toasting method gives the sugar a golden color and a lightly caramelized aroma. Unlike cane sugar, coconut sugar offers trace amounts of vitamin C, potassium, calcium and other essential minerals. It is also a natural source of phytonutrients—nutritional compounds important for building a strong immune system. Coco Treasure Coconut Sugar ranks only 35 on the glycemic index. Use it as a replacement for white sugar in all your baking and daily needs.
